How to wash children's outerwear and snowsuits
Proper care helps outerwear and snowsuits last longer and retain their performance.
This guide gives you a simple routine for stains, washing, drying and reactivating the water-repellent finish.
Before washing
Only wash when necessary
Clothes do not always need to go into the washing machine after one day's wear. Air the garment, brush off loose dirt or treat a small mark with a damp cloth. This is gentler on the fabric, the colour and the environment.
Step by step
- Always read the care label on the individual garment.
- Empty the pockets and close zips and hook-and-loop fastenings.
- Turn the garment inside out.
- Sort by colour and wash at the temperature stated on the label.
- Use a liquid detergent without optical brighteners.
What to avoid
- Washing more often than necessary.
- Stain removers containing optical brighteners.
- Fabric conditioner unless the care label specifically allows it.
- A higher temperature than stated on the label.
- Washing with open zips or exposed hook-and-loop fastenings.
Special care for outerwear and snowsuits
Wash outerwear inside out and use liquid detergent. This helps protect the outer surface and supports a good wash result. Always follow the garment's own care label, as materials and details can vary.
Reactivate the water-repellent finish
For outerwear with BIONIC-FINISH® ECO or another heat-reactivated water-repellent finish, brief tumble-drying at a low temperature can help reactivate the treatment. Keep the garment inside out, and only tumble-dry it when the care label allows.
Everyday clothing is generally best air-dried.
After washing
Make sure the garment is completely dry before storing it. Check zips, foot straps, reflective details and seams at the same time. Small areas of damage are easier to repair before they become larger.
